Pulmonology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory diseases and conditions affecting the lungs and breathing. Pulmonologists treat a wide range of disorders, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, tuberculosis, and sleep apnea. They also manage conditions like lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, and respiratory infections. Pulmonologists use diagnostic tools such as chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests, and bronchoscopy to evaluate lung health. This specialty plays a vital role in improving respiratory function and supporting overall health through both medical treatments and preventive care.
